Colton Flick - Teacher & Creative Director
I'm a professional writer and graphic designer who's produced award-winning podcasts and commercial tabletop games. I did my undergrad in Film & Screenwriting at Kenyon College — a school best known for alumni like John Green, Bill Watterson, and President Rutherford B. Hayes. Hayes actually dropped out after his sophomore year, but we named a science building after him anyway.
I got my Master's in Interactive Media from Elon University, where my capstone project focused on game design, motion graphics, and the effective use of emerging technology in education.
Before we started Hoop Snake, I taught elementary and middle school students at Sonorous Road and high school students at Duke's Talent Identification Program. Before that, I assisted with Burning Coal's Summer Theatre Conservatory as an intern. My professional work has been featured in publications like A.V. Club, Bello Collective, and Vox.
I'm passionate about art, technology, and education. When teaching these courses, my goal is to give students all the skills they need to pursue their dream projects long-term.
Amelia Flick - Administrative Director
Hi! I’m Amelia, and you guessed it, sibling to Colton. I am the administrative director here at Hoop Snake Creative!
While my brother is the creative one, I am all about organization, business, and marketing. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Arizona State University.
My role is the business end of Hoop Snake - to register kids, talk to parents, and make sure everything goes smoothly for every family and student. I have been involved in the arts before as production manager during my time at Raleigh Charter High School, and as an Odyssey of the Mind multi-time world champ. I have also been involved in the business side of things throughout college and now, with my job in sales. I look forward to talking with each and every one of you and getting your child registered for an incredible learning experience.
